Author Biography
Marie-Therese Mäder is a senior lecturer in religion and media ethics at the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität Munich, the University of Basel, and the Universities of Applied Sciences of the Grisons and Bern. Her research focuses on the visual culture of rites of passage like mediated death, and the ethical dimensions of media practices, including questions related to AI, the reception of religion, as well as film, gender, and religion. She is a member of the research group Media and Religion (www.media-religion.org). In 2021 she won a Marie Sklodowska-Curie Fellowship (EU Horizon 2020). She is the author of numerous essays, book chapters, and books on film and religion, migration, funeral culture, ethics and documentary film, religion in reality shows, and audience research.
